Convention Rules

Rules of Conduct Policy:

1.) Attendees are at their own risk with respect to the dangers incidental to Epic Con. By purchasing a badge, attendees grant consent to the use of their image or likeness in any recording, transmission, or reproduction of Epic Con and consent to ejection without refund for inappropriate behavior or failure to comply with the Epic Con Rules of Conduct.

2.) Please be kind and courteous to your fellow attendees, guests, dealers, and staff at all times. Disruptive behavior that disturbs others is not allowed. This includes running, screaming, yelling, horseplay, unsolicited physical contact, or any other such behavior as deemed disruptive by convention staff or university management.

3.) Please treat the convention facilities with respect. Do not damage or deface the facilities or their property in any way. Criminal charges may be pressed in certain situations by the university.

4.) Please keep the hallways and aisles clear. While it’s wonderful to stand and talk with friends, please do so in a manner that does not obstruct the flow of traffic.

5.) Smoking and weapons are prohibited in the university. Cosplay weapons will have to be inspected before entering the university.

6.) Attendees under the age of 21 who are caught drinking or intoxicated or suspected of drinking will be removed form the convention. Epic Con Staff will also contact the proper authorities.

7.) Attendees who are caught, suspected of being under the influence of an illegal substance, or who are dispersing any illegal substances will be removed from the convention. Epic Con Staff will also contact the proper authorities.

8.) Rollerblades, skates, skateboards, scooters, and bicycles are prohibited in the university.

9.) Offensive and/or revealing attire is prohibited. We kindly ask that people refrain from wearing clothing (including costumes) that would be inappropriate in public. Examples: Wearing only a bath towel or less. Wearing strategically placed ribbons. Etc. Please also note that the carrying of any weapons (barring those made of cardboard, foam or plastic) is prohibited. Staff have the right to remove items deemed inappropriate and unsafe. Staff will remove these items and return them at the end of the convention.

10.) Epic Con and NUIM university are not liable for any missing belongings. Please keep a close eye on your items. If you should lose something please contact convention security immediately.

11.) Do not leave your bags unattended! Any bag left unattended will be turned over to the appropriate authorities.

12.) Due to the relatively close quarters of the Dealers’ Room, Epic Con encourages people to leave bags and backpacks in their university room or car. In the interest of safety, any book bags, briefcases, suitcases, cosplay accessories, or other items deemed unwieldy by the security staff may be temporary confiscated by security.

13.) Event rooms have a limited amount of space. Due to this fact it may become necessary to wait in line prior to gaining entry into some events or areas. Please be patient and understanding with us. We will do our best to accommodate as many people as we can as quickly as possible.

14.) Disabled persons, staff, on-duty volunteers, convention guests of honour, and dealers are not required to stand in line for entry into the Dealers’ Room. If you have any questions, please contact convention security.

15.) Shoplifting is a crime. It is not tolerated and violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Shoplifters will have their badge revoked without refund, be removed from the convention and may not be allowed to attend Epic Cons in the future.

16.) Epic Con staff reserve the right to revoke your convention membership and eject anyone at anytime from the convention without a refund.

17.) Please follow the directions of the convention staff and convention security. They are there to make your experience more enjoyable, not to hinder or hurt you. Anyone who refuses to obey either convention staff or convention security will be subject to removal from the convention.

Convention Badge Policy:

1.) By registering for addmittance with Epic Con, you agree to the Epic Con Rules of Conduct and agree to allow photographs and/or video with your likeness to be used by the Omega Soc for promotional purposes.

2.) Once a badge is picked up at Registration, the badge cannot be transferred to another person nor can it be given to or used by another person at any time. Each person attending the convention must have his or her own badge for the entire duration of the convention. Staff reserve the right to question anyone that they suspect is carrying a badge that is not their own.

3.) Badges must be visible at all times. You should wear your badge in a place that is easily seen.

4.) All convention events require a badge for entry. No exceptions. This is for your safety as well as ours. If you are found in a convention area without a badge you will be removed from the convention

5.) Anyone found attempting to forge a membership badge will be removed from the convention and may be banned from future Epic Convetion events.

6.) Do not lose your badge! We cannot be held responsible for lost badges. If you do lose your badge, check with convention security. Someone may have found it and turned it in.

7.) In the event that you lose your badge and it cannot be found, you will be required to purchase a new one at the at-door membership rate. If the convention is sold out, you will not be able to purchase a replacement.
